The Implementation of a CORBA Object Group Service
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Object Group Service (OGS) extends CORBA with the ability to group objects and invoke them as a single entity. Through this abstraction, OGS provides an adequate support for the construction of reliable and highly available distributed applications with replicated critical components. OGS was designed and implemented in accordance with the Object Management Group guidelines. It does not rely on any Object Request Broker vendor-speciic feature and can transparently be used with any CORBA 2.0 Object Request Broker. It is itself made of several CORBA services such as a monitoring service and a consensus service which can themselves be used as stand-alone CORBA services.

The Design of a CORBA Group Communication Service
The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is becoming a standard for distributed application middleware, and there are increasing needs for enriching the basic functionalities of CORBA. While mechanisms for persistence, transactions, event channels, etc., have been designed and specified for CORBA, no standard support is provided to handle object replication. In this paper we discus...
متن کاملEvaluating CORBA portability: the case of an object group service
One of the most attractive aspects of the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) lies in its open standard nature. Code that is based only on constructs described in the CORBA speciication is portable between Object Request Brokers (ORBs), without depending on any single ORB implementation. However, this portability feature is not completely achieved in real-world applications. This ...
متن کاملImplementation Techniques and an Object Group Service for CORBA-Based Applications in the Field of Parallel Processing
In this paper, we examine the suitability of CORBA-based solutions for meeting application requirements in the field of distributed parallel programming. We outline concepts defined within CORBA which are helpful for the development of parallel applications, and we describe which programming techniques are at hand for this purpose. Subsequently, we present an Object Group Service which facilita...
متن کاملA Fault-Tolerant Object Service on CORBA
The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), is a major industrial standard for distributed object-based applications. Today's large-scale CORBA applications have to deal with object crashes, node failures, networks partitioning and unpredictable communication delays. Existing eorts to enhance the CORBA reliability can be roughly categorized into three approaches: integration approac...
متن کاملImplementation Experience with the OMG IN/CORBA Interworking Specification
The Object Management Group has recently adopted a specification to standardise interworking between Signaling System No.7 systems and CORBA-based systems. This specification defines two types of interworking mechanism: 1. Interworking between CORBA-based TC-User Application Entities (such as CORBA-based Service Control Points) and legacy TC-User Application Entities (such as Service Switching ...
